Language
Receptive language: has to do with trouble understanding directions, and spoken information/words given by another person.
Expressive language: is difficulties expressing or communicating himself with or without words.
Social/pragmatic language: is when there’s difficulties communicating by using and understanding appropriate social language in a variety of social situations.
Auditory processing: is trouble attending, understanding and remembering important spoken information.
Word finding/vocabulary: is when there’s trouble thinking of the words to use when wanting to speak and misusing words when trying to talk.
Late talker: is when a child is not yet using words to communicate their feelings, wants and needs like their peers.
If your child or someone you know is experiencing difficulties in any of the areas above, language therapy may be needed to improve their ability to communicate.
